TP-3 Thermal Expansion Tank

3-Liter (0.8 Gallon) Tank for Hot Water Systems & Water Heaters | Aquasky THERMAL-PLUS Series | Made in Taiwan

TP-3 is designed specifically to absorb expanded water in closed, hot water systems, protecting water heating systems from excessive pressure and potentially hazardous conditions.

TP-3 has a total volume of 3 liters (0.8 gallons). The tank is designed for a maximum operating pressure of 10 bar (150 psi) and a maximum operating temperature of 90 °C (194 °F). It is factory pre-charged to 3.5 bar (50 psi) with nitrogen for stable and safe system performance.

With a diameter of 14.0 cm (5.5 inches) and a height of 20.8 cm (8.2 inches), the compact design makes installation quick and convenient alongside standard water heaters.

TP-3

Product Overview

The TP-3 is a 3-liter (0.8-gallon) thermal expansion tank specifically engineered for closed-loop residential hot water systems. It serves as a critical safety component by absorbing the expanded water volume during the heating cycle, effectively maintaining stable pressure levels and preventing dangerous relief valve discharges.

Key technical advantages include its seamless integration with backflow preventers and check valves to control excessive thermal pressure. The internal architecture features a high-hygiene design that completely isolates water from the carbon steel shell using an FDA-approved polypropylene liner and a heavy-duty butyl diaphragm, ensuring maximum safety for potable water applications.

Constructed for long-term durability, the TP-3 is finished with a protective Triple Grade Almond (RAL 1015) epoxy coating for superior environmental resistance. This CE-certified tank offers a maintenance-free, dependable solution, providing homeowners and contractors with ultimate peace of mind and system longevity.

How the THERMAL-PLUS Pressure Tank Works

In closed hot water systems, thermal expansion occurs naturally as domestic water is heated. The TP-3 works in conjunction with a backflow preventer or check valve to safely absorb this expanded water. It stores the expanded water securely between the heavy-duty butyl rubber diaphragm and the polypropylene liner, while the nitrogen-filled air chamber compresses to accommodate the volume change. By controlling this excessive pressure, it safely maintains water pressure levels and avoids relief valve discharge.

Key benefits

  • Absorbs excess water during heating to prevent relief valve discharge.
  • Protects water heaters and plumbing from high pressure/leaks.
  • Provides a safe, stable system for residential hot water.
  • High-grade internal liner isolates water from metals, preventing tank corrosion.

Typical Applications

  • Closed-loop domestic hot water systems
  • Residential water heating setups
  • Plumbing systems requiring a backflow preventer or check valve

Frequently Asked Question (FAQ)

Q1 : Why do I need the TP-3 in my water heating system?

As domestic water is heated, it expands. In a closed system (which often includes a backflow preventer or check valve), this expansion can cause a dangerous increase in pressure. The TP-3 safely absorbs this expanded water, controlling the excessive pressure and preventing the relief valve from discharging, ultimately making it the safest system for your home.

Q2 : Is the TP-3 safe for domestic hot water?

Yes. The TP-3 features a stainless-steel system connection, an FDA-grade polypropylene liner, and a heavy-duty butyl diaphragm. This hygienic design separates the water completely from the cold-rolled carbon steel tank shell, keeping your domestic water safe and preventing internal tank corrosion.

Q3 : Are these tiny tanks shipped individually?

Because of its highly compact size, the TP-3 is conveniently packaged and shipped with 4 pieces per standard box.
