TP-40 Thermal Expansion Tank

40-Liter (10 Gallon) Thermal Expansion Vessel for Closed Hot Water Systems | Aquasky THERMAL-PLUS Series | Made in Taiwan

TP-40 is a high-capacity expansion tank specifically engineered to absorb expanded water in closed, hot water systems as domestic water is heated.

TP-40 has a total volume of 40 liters (10 gallons). Built for safe and demanding continuous use, this tank is designed for a robust maximum operating pressure of 10 bar (150 psi) and a maximum operating temperature of 90 °C (194 °F).

It is factory pre-charged with nitrogen to 3.5 bar (50 psi) for highly stable and safe system performance. With a diameter of 35.5 cm (14.0 inches) and a height of 43.0 cm (16.9 inches), this highly durable tank is ideal for mid-sized commercial and large-scale residential water heating setups requiring superior thermal liquid expansion management.

TP-40

Product Overview

The TP-40 is a 40-liter (10-gallon) thermal expansion tank engineered to maximize the safety and efficiency of mid-to-large scale hot water systems. It serves as a robust safety buffer, absorbing thermal expansion to stabilize system pressure and protect your water heater from structural stress and relief valve discharges.

Key technical advantages include an FDA-grade polypropylene liner and a heavy-duty butyl rubber diaphragm that completely isolates water from the carbon steel shell. This high-hygiene internal architecture ensures a contaminant-free environment and superior pressure regulation, making it ideal for demanding potable water applications.

Built for long-term reliability, the TP-40 features a premium stainless-steel connection and a Triple Grade Almond (RAL 1015) epoxy finish for superior corrosion resistance. This unit delivers a maintenance-free performance that ensures both the longevity of your system and your absolute peace of mind.

Materials & Design Advantages

How the THERMAL-PLUS Pressure Tank Works

In closed hot water systems, thermal expansion occurs naturally as domestic water is heated. The TP-40 works in conjunction with a backflow preventer or check valve to safely absorb this expanded water. It stores the expanded water securely between the heavy-duty butyl rubber diaphragm and the polypropylene liner, while the nitrogen-filled air chamber compresses to accommodate the volume change. By controlling this excessive pressure, it safely maintains water pressure levels and avoids relief valve discharge.

Key benefits

  • Absorbs excess water during heating to prevent relief valve discharge.
  • Protects water heaters and plumbing from high pressure/leaks.
  • Provides a safe, stable system for residential hot water.
  • High-grade internal liner isolates water from metals, preventing tank corrosion.

Typical Applications

  • Closed-loop residential and commercial hot water systems
  • Domestic water heater installations
  • Plumbing systems requiring a backflow preventer or check valve

Frequently Asked Question (FAQ)

Q1 : Does the hot water ever come into contact with the internal metal shell of the TP-40?

No. The TP-40 utilizes an FDA-grade polypropylene liner and a heavy-duty butyl rubber diaphragm to separate the water from the tank shell. This completely isolated water zone prevents the tank from rusting and ensures your water remains clean.

Q2 : How does the TP-40 maintain pressure in heavy-duty heating setups?

With a 40-liter (10-gallon) capacity and a robust 150 PSI (10 Bar) maximum working pressure, the TP-40 utilizes a substantial 50 PSIG nitrogen air cushion to safely maintain pressure levels and absorb expanded water in demanding water heating systems.

Q3 : Why does the TP-40 use a 50 PSI Nitrogen pre-charge instead of compressed air?

Aquasky uses a 100% Nitrogen pre-charge because nitrogen is a highly stable gas. Unlike regular air, it resists permeation and does not drastically expand or contract with temperature changes, providing a much more reliable compressible air cushion to protect your system.
