TP-80 Thermal Expansion Tank

80-Liter (20 Gallon) High-Capacity Tank for Hot Water Systems & Commercial Water Heaters | Aquasky THERMAL-PLUS Series | Made in Taiwan

TP-80 is designed specifically to absorb expanded water in high-capacity, closed hot water systems, protecting water heating systems from excessive pressure and potentially hazardous conditions.

TP-80 has a total volume of 80 liters (20 gallons). The tank is designed to safely maintain water pressure levels with a maximum operating pressure of 10 bar (150 psi) and a maximum operating temperature of 90 °C (194 °F).

It is factory pre-charged with nitrogen to 3.5 bar (50 psi) for highly stable and safe system performance. With a diameter of 43.2 cm (17.0 inches) and a height of 70.0 cm (27.6 inches), this stand-model tank comes with a heavy-duty base, providing massive expansion absorption for demanding commercial and large residential plumbing systems.

TP-80

Product Overview

The TP-80 is an 80-liter (20-gallon) high-capacity expansion tank engineered for large-scale domestic and commercial hot water systems. It serves as a robust safety buffer, absorbing thermal expansion to stabilize system pressure and protect your heating infrastructure from mechanical stress and relief valve discharges.

Key technical advantages include an FDA-grade polypropylene liner and a heavy-duty butyl diaphragm with 400% elongation for industrial-grade resilience. Equipped with a 1-inch stainless steel connection and patented Leak Safe technology, the TP-80 ensures a contaminant-free environment and superior safety for high-demand potable water applications.

Built for heavy-duty endurance, the TP-80 is protected by a Triple Grade Almond epoxy finish for maximum corrosion resistance. Widely regarded as a superior alternative to benchmarks like Elbi or Amtrol, this unit delivers maintenance-free performance that guarantees the longevity of your system and your absolute peace of mind.

Materials & Design Advantages

How the THERMAL-PLUS Pressure Tank Works

In closed hot water systems, thermal expansion occurs naturally as domestic water is heated. The TP-80 works in conjunction with a backflow preventer or check valve to safely absorb this expanded water. It stores the expanded water securely between the heavy-duty butyl rubber diaphragm and the polypropylene liner, while the nitrogen-filled air chamber compresses to accommodate the volume change. By controlling this excessive pressure, it safely maintains water pressure levels and avoids relief valve discharge.

Key benefits

  • Absorbs excess water during heating to prevent relief valve discharge.
  • Protects water heaters and plumbing from high pressure/leaks.
  • Provides a safe, stable system for residential hot water.
  • High-grade internal liner isolates water from metals, preventing tank corrosion.

Typical Applications

  • High-capacity closed-loop domestic and commercial hot water systems
  • Large-scale commercial water heating setups
  • Plumbing systems requiring a backflow preventer or check valve

Frequently Asked Question (FAQ)

Q1 : Why do I need the high-capacity TP-80 in my water heating system?

As domestic water is heated, it expands. In a closed system (which often includes a backflow preventer or check valve), this expansion can cause a dangerous increase in pressure.

The TP-80 safely absorbs this expanded water using a sealed compressible air cushion, controlling the excessive pressure and preventing the relief valve from discharging, ultimately making it the safest system for large facilities.

Q2 : How does the sealed air chamber inside the TP-80 work to protect my water heater?

The tank uses a sealed, compressible Nitrogen air cushion space. As heated water expands, it pushes against the diaphragm, compressing the Nitrogen gas and safely storing the excess water volume without spiking your system's pressure.

Q3 : What are the advantages of the 1-inch stainless steel connection?

For high-capacity systems, a 1-inch connection is vital for proper flow rates. Using stainless steel ensures superior structural strength and corrosion resistance. Additionally, our patented LeakSafe technology provides a secure, permanent seal to prevent any potential leaks at the connection point.
